Independence starts with access and access grows through community

If you live with a disability or support someone who does, you know that finding the right mix of equipment, services and support can be complicated. Choices about mobility devices, caregiving or home adaptations are not just practical decisions, they directly affect daily life and long-term wellbeing.
That is why events like the London Access Expo matter. They bring everything together in one space where people can see what is available, ask questions directly and connect with others who share similar experiences.
What Is the London Access Expo
On Thursday September 11, 2025, Spinal Cord Injury Ontario (SCIO) is hosting the Access Expo in London at the Parkwood Institute. From 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the space will transform into a showcase of accessibility solutions, adaptive technologies and community services.
The London event is part of SCIO’s wider Access Expo series which has also visited Kingston and Toronto this year. Each Expo follows the same approach: create a welcoming free event where people can explore what is new and connect with providers and peers in their region.
Why It Matters
Access to the right resources can change the way people live. The London Access Expo is important because it provides a hands-on experience where you can try out equipment and compare options, offers direct conversations with vendors community organizations and service providers, creates connections with peers who have walked similar paths and can share valuable insights, and introduces opportunities in areas like adaptive sports, legal support, rehabilitation and community programs that are not always easy to find elsewhere.
Visitors often describe leaving with more clarity, more confidence and new ideas about what is possible.
What You Will Find
The Expo is organized around broad groups of exhibitors so you can explore based on your interests. You will find mobility and accessibility solutions such as wheelchairs, scooters and adaptive vehicles, healthcare and wellness products that support everyday independence, local and regional organizations that provide practical programs and ongoing support, legal advocacy and rights-based services to help with navigating systems and protecting access, and community and recreational groups offering opportunities in adaptive sports, peer support and volunteer projects.
This variety means that whether you are looking for healthcare products, exploring sports and recreation or searching for guidance on funding and rights there will be something for you.
Networking and Community
The Access Expo is not only about exploring products and services, it is also about people coming together. You will meet families who have been managing care for years and are eager to share tips. You will meet people who are new to accessibility and want to learn from others’ experiences. You will see caregivers exchanging ideas, organizations forming partnerships and community members connecting over shared interests.
The conversations at the Expo are often as valuable as the exhibits themselves. They build relationships that extend far beyond the day of the event, creating new support networks, sparking collaborations and reminding everyone that independence is supported by community. Sometimes the most meaningful takeaway is not a brochure or a demonstration but a connection made over coffee, a shared laugh or a story that resonates with your own.
The Experience
The atmosphere of the Access Expo is different from a traditional trade show. It feels less like a sales event and more like a gathering of people who care about accessibility.
When the Upliv team attended the Toronto Access Expo earlier this summer, that feeling was clear the moment we arrived. The venue was filled with people trying out new equipment, learning about services and connecting with organizations that could support them. What stood out most was the energy. It was not just about products on display, it was about people sharing their stories and encouraging each other.
We saw families who had been navigating self-managed care for years offering advice to newcomers. We saw community organizations working side by side with technology providers to answer practical questions. We saw adaptive sports demonstrations that drew crowds and sparked curiosity. And in the middle of all this, conversations kept happening at every table and in every corner. Some were about equipment, some about funding and some simply about daily life.
For us at Upliv, being part of that atmosphere in Toronto was inspiring. We had the chance to meet caregivers, participants in Direct Funding and local advocates. Many people stopped by our booth just to chat and share their experiences and those conversations were as valuable as any formal demonstration. We left Toronto with new ideas, stronger relationships and a deeper understanding of how community events like this make a difference.
That same spirit is what makes the London Expo exciting. You can expect the same mix of practical solutions and genuine connection. The exhibits and demonstrations will be there to explore but so will the chance to sit down with a coffee, talk to someone who understands your challenges and feel part of a larger community working toward the same goal: making independent living easier and more accessible.
Upliv at the London Access Expo 2025
We are excited to share that Upliv will be exhibiting at the London Access Expo.
Our work is focused on making self-managed care easier for people in Ontario who use programs like Direct Funding. Payroll, timesheets and compliance are essential but they can take up time and energy. Upliv was created to simplify those tasks so that people can focus on living their lives.
For us, the Expo is about more than showing what we do. It is about being present in the community, listening to your stories, and learning from the conversations that happen when people come together in one space.
We also want our booth to feel welcoming and fun. If you stop by you can:
Pick up small giveaways we have prepared for visitors
Enter a free prize draw for items that support daily living and accessibility
Access special promotions available only to Expo attendees
These are our way of saying thank you for taking the time to connect with us. Whether you want to learn more about managing care, share your own experience, or just join in the prize draw, we would love to meet you in London.
Why You Should Attend
The London Access Expo 2025 is more than a showcase of products and services. It is a chance to discover new technologies and supports, meet organizations and peers in your community, learn about resources you might not find elsewhere, and enjoy a welcoming inclusive space where accessibility is at the center.
It is an afternoon that can open doors and start new conversations.
